Listed below are some commonly used types of timber:

If cost is not an issue then furniture made from ... wood will always be appreciated the most.

Take a solidly built bookshelf.  The cheapest option would be to use pained MDF, followed by MDF with a veneer finish.  The use of solid wood would be the costliest.
